In 1949 Wheeler Manis started a small building materials supply company in Rome, Georgia. Wheeler got advice and support from his father, Tom Manis, a sawmiller. Maybe Tom was trying to repay all the time Wheeler had spent since childhood helping his father with cutting timber and sawing logs. Wheeler lent the same support to his sons, Mark and Jim, when they entered the business in the early 1980's. Today, Wheeler's is entirely owned and operated by Mark and Jim, who continue to preserve the family tradition of hard work and square dealing.
